Opening and Keynote Speaker
Dr. Morales will open the day and intro our keynote speaker, Dr. Joelle Hood from Thriving YOUniversity.

Taking Time To B.R.E.A.T.H.E.
Strategies for Strengthening Personal and Professional Resilience
Let’s face it. Life is full of change and uncertainty and is pretty stressful right now for most of us. When students and staff experience chronic stress, it can negatively impact their motivation, performance, and well-being, which can then affect the morale and climate of the home, the classroom, the staff room, the organization, and the community. There couldn’t be a more important time to focus on strengthening our well-being and resilience than right now.
Participants in this engaging workshop series will walk away with simple yet powerful research-based practices from the fields of Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Emotional Intelligence, and Social Psychology. They can utilize these strategies with themselves, their teams, and their students to reduce stress and anxiety, improve attention and performance, and strengthen overall physical and psychological well-being. This transformational and experiential learning series provides an easy framework to give staff the understanding, motivation, and practices needed to work on becoming better humans, better educators, better leaders and better organizations.

Taking Time to BREATHE: Strategies for Student Well-being and Resilience

During the keynote, we focused on adults -- in this breakout session, we will focus on how to strengthen these practices with our students!
Participants in this engaging session will walk away with research-based practices that they can use immediately -- first with themselves, and then with their students to reduce stress and anxiety, improve attention and performance, and strengthen overall physical and psychological well-being. Brain-Based Strategies for Trauma-Responsive Schools Part One

Register in advance for this meeting:
https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAqcumtqj0iHtT_v8sUhOpwoE9bAgHnF8Cx

In the United States, more than 60% of children under the age of 16 have reported experiencing at least one adverse childhood experience (ACE). As educators, we see the impact of trauma every day on students’ behavior, engagement, and academic readiness in our classrooms and on our sites. This informative, engaging, and experiential session explores the neuroscience around trauma and provides participants with simple yet powerful research-based strategies to build relationships and cultivate environments that empower all students to thrive. In the last year, many have experienced collective trauma in dealing with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic that has been complicated by social isolation, uncertainty, and schools looking for new ways to reach and teach students.
Trauma has exacerbated three things that the brain hates: chronic unpredictability, social isolation, and physical and emotional restraint.  In this experiential learning session, facilitators will focus on how to meet our brain's need for predictability, belonging and connection, and voice and choice.  Participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of the impact of trauma on student learning and behavior, as well as research-based practices and strategies that they can begin to implement in their classroom immediately as part of a trauma-informed approach.
This session also includes a Hyperlinked Resource Doc FULL of resources you can use immediately and access to a Google Drive Resource folder too! :)
